The South Africa United States Collective (SAUSCO) mobilises the intellectual, cultural, and lived experience of South Africans shaped in the United States to advance South Africa’s democratic future.

Why SAUSCO Exists

SAUSCO is a formalised non-governmental collective of South Africans who lived, studied, worked, or organised in the United States during the defining years of 1976–1994. 


Born of exile, scholarship, and activism, SAUSCO exists to ensure that this legacy does not retire into memory, but is activated for contemporary leadership, policy influence, education, and national renewal.


Through advocacy, research, mentorship, and intergenerational exchange, SAUSCO connects history to action and remembrance to responsibility.
